Here's a list of top 10 bisexual movies compiled by OutFilms.com

www.outfilms.com/top10bisexual.cfm

From the site: Bisexuals get no respect. Straight people wonder why they don't just go straight, and gay people wonder why they are pretending to be half and half. And despite the potential for drama, Hollywood doesn't do much with this genre.

10.water drops on burning rocks
9.I will survive
8.Borstal boy
7.sunday bloody sunday
6.midnight cowboy
5.Kinsey
4.Cabaret
3.My own Private Idaho
2.Y Tu Mama Tambien
1.Midnight Express

There's a film summary for each movie on the site.

How do you feel about this list? What should be added/taken off? What's on your top 10 list for bi films or movies that depict/talk about it?

I'm kinda surprised that the movie about Frida Kahlo called Frida isn't on there and neither are Kevin Smiths' Chasing Amy, Brokeback Mountain, or the film adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's novel 'Women in Love'. I've never seen it but I've been told that the BBC adaptation of 'Portrait of a Marriage' is a good representation too but that the US version has sex scenes censored out while the UK version doesn't.

I put this on other bi related tribes only because everyone goes to different ones.

They forgot "Female Perversions," a narrative film starring Tilda Swinton, Amy Madigan and Clancy Brown. It's based on a nonfiction book that not only covers bisexuality but cutting, adolescent rituals around menstruation, shoplifting, and superstitions about clothing and objects. The always ethereal Tilda Swinton has a hot hot hot relationship with hot hot hot Karen Sillas, in a hammock yet. On the other side of Tilda's bed is Clancy Brown. Amy Madigan is Tilda's shoplifting sister. Paulina Porizkova has a cameo as the object of TIlda's competitive jealousy in the lipstick department.

And hey, what about "Liana," by John Sayles, where a woman falls in love with her ex-husband's new wife? Or "Gazon Maudit," (US title "French Twist")?
  • I guess that it always seemed to me that the only bisexual people that were portrayed in films and such were always shown to be having some kind of personality disorder. It's very frustrating, on so many levels.

But hey, I'll bite. I'd ad the movie "threesome" (unfortunatly, it has a baldwin in it), and for the ladies, I'd have to recommend "The Sex Monster"
  • A man for all Seasons, with a young Michael York. He plays a ne'er-do-well who seduces most of a small Bavarian village, including a bar maid, a Countess, her son, her daughter, then proceeds to murder them as they discover what he is doing.

Half these films I've never even heard of, and I've only seen Kinsey, My own private Idaho, and Cabaret.
  • Um HELLOOO!

    Velocity of Gary!

    :)
    • Of course, why didn't I think of that! And by-all-means if belongs on the list!! As does that movie about a pair of English Rock Stars, and one of their wives, what was it called...Golden treasure, Stardust trunk, Goldstar closet?? I can't remember! But it was supposed to be an "unauthorized" story about David Bowie, Ziggy Pop, or maybe it was Mick Jagger, not sure?!
      • And it's the unofficial story of Iggy and David.

        Bit of trivia:

They made Bowies character seem like such a tool on purpose in the movie, because Bowie wouldn't let them use any of his music for it.

"And one day, the whole stinking world would be theirs"

        ;)
