I'm on another forum (a lesbian focused one) that had a
topic about Het Priveledge and I've really wanted to talk
about how Bisexuals engage that topic.. So here I am....
hoping to hear/read some different perspectives...

  • I think that het-priviledge is a double edged sword. On one hand, it's kind of a social awl or wedge. If you can slip it in that you are not heterosexual to someone that is gravitating toward your hetero side, it's an opportunity to be used to expand understanding.

On the other hand, it's a challenge, because it makes coming out constant for us.

Now, my personal oppinion about het privilege? It's an excuse for some to remain in the closet and still feel indignant about it, plain and simple. It's a term that's a marker for something that will inevitably slowly be overcome, and has been in the process of being overcome for some time. It will happen when the world is ready, as long as those without it express themselves freely and openly.
